CJ Dropshipping Review (2026): Shopify App, Fees & Shipping

Short version of this CJ Dropshipping review: CJ is a solid default supplier for Shopify dropshippers who want a huge catalog, free product sourcing and branded packaging without paying a subscription. The CJdropshipping Shopify app holds a 4.9-star rating from 2,896 reviews on the Shopify App Store (October 2026), and that score is mostly earned. The weak spots are shipping from China on items that aren't stocked locally, and costs that move around more than sellers expect. Below is how it works, what it really costs, and when you should pick something else.

What is CJ Dropshipping?

CJdropshipping is a China-based sourcing and fulfillment company (the developer address on its Shopify listing is in Yiwu, the wholesale-market city in Zhejiang). You list its products in your store, a customer pays you, and CJ buys, packs and ships the item to that customer under your store name. You pay CJ the product cost plus shipping. That's the core model.

What makes CJ different from a plain marketplace like AliExpress is that CJ acts as a single middleman for everything. You don't message 40 different sellers. You deal with CJ's agents, CJ's warehouses and one wallet. It also handles jobs most marketplaces won't: sourcing products it doesn't list yet, stocking your inventory in overseas warehouses, quality inspection, print on demand and custom packaging.

It isn't Shopify-only. The app listing says it works with eBay, Etsy, Shopee, TikTok Shop and WED2C, plus an API, and the interface comes in 26 languages.

How the CJdropshipping Shopify app works

The official app is listed as "CJdropshipping: Much Faster" on the Shopify App Store. It launched in January 2020 and is free to install. Here's the setup most sellers go through.

  1. Install and connect. Install the app from the App Store, create (or log in to) your CJ account, and authorize your Shopify store. You can connect more than one store to the same CJ account; the free tier includes unlimited store authorization.
  2. Find products. Browse CJ's catalog, filter by warehouse country, or use the trending product suggestions. There's also a Chrome extension that pulls listings from 1688, Taobao and AliExpress into CJ so CJ can fulfill them.
  3. Import and edit. Push products to Shopify in one click, then rewrite titles, set prices and choose which variants go live. You can import reviews and bundle products together.
  4. Pick shipping. The app suggests a shipping method automatically, and there's a shipping calculator for comparing cost against delivery time by destination.
  5. Fund your wallet and fulfill. When an order lands in Shopify, it syncs to CJ. You pay for it (from your CJ wallet or a linked payment method), CJ processes it, and the tracking number syncs back to Shopify.

Auto-fulfillment is the part that saves the most time. Once you've set payment and default shipping rules, paid orders can go through without you opening the CJ dashboard. Check the first 20 or so orders manually anyway. Variant mapping mistakes (the wrong color linked to a Shopify variant) are the most common reason new stores ship the wrong item.

CJ Dropshipping pricing and fees

CJ's headline is no setup fee, no monthly fee and no minimum order. That's true for the core service. You can sign up, list as many products as you like and fulfill orders for $0 a month. What you pay is the product price, shipping, and any optional services you choose.

CJ does sell optional memberships. These are the prices on its official membership page as of October 2026:

PlanPriceDaily sourcing requestsExtras
Free$05Unlimited listings, unlimited stores, quality inspection, 24/7 support
Plus$15.99/mo5 + 10 extraTwo $3-off coupons, 5 VIP products, course discounts
Prime$19.99/mo5 + 20 extraFive $3-off coupons, 10 VIP products, 15 recommended products
Advanced$59.99/mo5 + 50 extraTen $3-off coupons, 20 VIP products, 25 recommended products

My take: stay on Free until you're hitting the five-requests-a-day sourcing cap. The paid tiers mostly buy more sourcing requests and a few coupons. They don't change product prices across the board.

The fees that actually matter show up when you use CJ's warehouses. CJ's promo video on the app listing says "no storage fee," and for normal dropshipping orders that holds. Pre-stocked inventory is different: depending on the warehouse and how long stock sits, you can be billed for inbound handling, stocking (storage), outbound handling, and extras like kitting, packaging or disposal. Get a written quote from your agent before you send a pallet anywhere.

A quick margin check

Say you sell a posture corrector. CJ's price is $6.80 and CJPacket shipping to the US is $4.90, so your landed cost is $11.70. You sell at $29.99. Payment processing takes roughly 3%, about $0.90, which leaves around $17.40 per order before ads. If your cost per purchase on Meta is $14, you clear about $3.40. That's thin. It's why you should check product cost, shipping and your break-even ROAS before importing anything, not after. Our break-even ROAS guide walks through the math.

CJ warehouses, shipping methods and delivery times

Most CJ products ship from China. On its Shopify listing, CJ names China, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States as sourcing locations, and it runs overseas warehouses where stock can sit closer to your customers. The catch is that not every product (or every variant) is stocked in every warehouse. A listing might show a US warehouse, but only for two of six colors.

Here's how the main options compare:

  • CJPacket (Ordinary/Sensitive): CJ's own cross-border line and the default for most orders. Tracking aggregators such as Ship24 quote roughly 7 to 15 days to the US, with USPS handling the last mile.
  • Local warehouse dispatch: CJ's app copy says local warehouse delivery is generally 2 to 3 days. Realistically, add a day or two of processing.
  • Express couriers (DHL and similar): faster, but the cost usually wipes out the margin on anything under about $40.

The smart move is a hybrid. Test a product with CJPacket from China. If it sells consistently for two or three weeks, ask your CJ agent to pre-stock 50 to 100 units in the US warehouse. Delivery drops to a few days, refund requests usually fall, and your ads can promise faster shipping. If you want the full argument for local stock, read our breakdown of US vs overseas dropshipping suppliers.

Print on demand, custom packaging and white label

This is where CJ beats a typical AliExpress store. The app lists POD and OEM customization, private labels, custom packaging, design tools, a mockup generator, pack-ins and personalization.

In practice, that means you can order branded mailer bags, boxes, thank-you cards or stickers, have CJ store them, and have them used on every order of a given product. You can also print your design on items like phone cases, mugs, tees and tote bags. Two warnings from seller reviews. Branded packaging has minimum quantities and its own production time, so order it before you scale, not during a spike. And custom-printed items take longer than stocked items, so update your shipping policy page.

If branding is your main goal, compare CJ against dedicated POD apps too. Our list of print-on-demand suppliers covers Printful, Printify and others.

Sourcing requests: CJ's most underrated feature

Found a product that's selling on a competitor's store but isn't in CJ's catalog? Submit a sourcing request with the product link or photos. CJ's team looks for a factory, quotes you a price, and adds the product to its catalog if it can supply it. Sellers commonly report quotes coming back within one to two days. It's free, and the Free plan gives you five requests a day.

Two tips. Send a link to the exact listing you want matched, not a vague description, and say which variants matter. Then order a sample before you run ads. Samples are slow (it's a common complaint in reviews), so request them early.

CJ Dropshipping pros and cons from real reviews

Of the 2,896 reviews on the CJdropshipping Shopify app, about 96% are five stars and 68 are one star. Here's what comes up again and again.

What sellers like

  • Easy Shopify integration, with orders and tracking syncing without manual work.
  • A very large catalog, plus free sourcing for anything missing.
  • Agents who walk new sellers through pricing and shipping choices.
  • Branded packaging and POD under the same roof as regular dropshipping.
  • No monthly fee, so testing products is cheap.

What sellers complain about

  • Slow shipping on items sent from China. Some new stores call it their biggest obstacle.
  • US warehouse stock that doesn't always match the listing, especially for apparel.
  • Slow sample delivery.
  • Price changes after a rate was agreed. One reviewer reported increases of up to 30%.
  • Agent quality varies. Some are fast; others are slow to act on requests.

The price-change complaint is the one to plan for. Keep a spreadsheet of your landed cost per SKU and recheck it every couple of weeks. In the margin example above, a $1.50 increase would wipe out almost half of that $3.40 profit per order.

CJ vs AliExpress vs Spocket

These three get compared constantly, and each wins in a different situation. We've written a full AliExpress vs CJdropshipping vs Spocket comparison, but here's the short version.

CJdropshippingAliExpressSpocket

If you go the AliExpress route, you'll need an import app; AliDrop and DSers are the usual picks. If shipping speed to US or EU shoppers matters more than unit cost, Spocket is the better fit. Plenty of stores run two of these side by side. For a wider list of apps, see our guide to dropshipping suppliers for Shopify.

Find products worth importing before you touch CJ

CJ makes importing easy, which is the problem. It's tempting to import 200 products and hope. Stores that last usually import 5 to 10 products that already have proof of demand.

That's what Dropshiptool is for. Use the Product Database to filter products by revenue and trend, then check the Sales Tracker to see whether real Shopify stores are still selling them this week. Once you've got a shortlist, search CJ for each item (or submit a sourcing request) and compare CJ's landed cost against what those stores charge. If the spread doesn't leave room for ads, skip it.

Who CJ Dropshipping is for (and who should skip it)

CJ is a good fit if you're testing products on a small budget, sell general merchandise under about $40, want to add branded packaging once something works, or need a supplier that will hunt down products for you.

Skip it, or pair it with something else, if your customers expect delivery in under five days and the product isn't in a CJ US or EU warehouse, if you're selling higher-ticket items where a two-week wait kills conversion, or if you need fixed costs you can lock in for months.

Is CJ Dropshipping worth it in 2026?

For most new Shopify stores, yes. It costs nothing to start, the Shopify app is reliable, and sourcing plus packaging give you a path from random test product to something closer to a brand. Plan around the weak spots. Order samples early, move winners into a local warehouse, and track your landed cost so price changes don't surprise you. Do that and CJ will cover most of what you need in year one.

CJ Dropshipping FAQs

Is CJ Dropshipping legit?

Yes. CJdropshipping is an established sourcing and fulfillment company based in Yiwu, China, and its Shopify app has a 4.9-star rating from 2,896 reviews as of October 2026. That said, quality varies by product, so order samples, check landed costs and test a few orders yourself before you spend serious money on ads.

Is CJ Dropshipping free to use?

Yes. Installing the Shopify app, listing products, connecting stores and submitting up to five sourcing requests a day are free. You pay for products, shipping and any optional services such as warehousing or custom packaging. Optional memberships cost $15.99, $19.99 or $59.99 a month and mainly add sourcing requests and coupons.

How long does CJ Dropshipping shipping take?

It depends on where the item ships from. CJPacket from China to the US is usually quoted at around 7 to 15 days. Products stocked in CJ's US or European warehouses typically arrive in a few days, and CJ's app copy quotes 2 to 3 days for local warehouse delivery. Express couriers are faster but cost much more.

How do I connect CJdropshipping to Shopify?

Install the CJdropshipping app from the Shopify App Store, log in or create a CJ account, and authorize your store. Then import products from CJ's catalog, set your prices and shipping method, and fund your CJ wallet. New Shopify orders sync to CJ automatically, and tracking numbers sync back once orders ship.

Is CJ Dropshipping better than AliExpress?

For most Shopify dropshippers, CJ is easier to manage because you deal with one company instead of many separate sellers, and it adds sourcing, quality inspection, warehousing and branded packaging. AliExpress has a broader open marketplace and is handy for quick product tests. Many stores use both, depending on the product.

Does CJ Dropshipping offer custom packaging and print on demand?

Yes. CJ offers private labeling, custom boxes and mailers, branded inserts, stickers and print on demand for items like apparel, phone cases and mugs. Packaging usually has minimum order quantities and production time, so order it once a product is selling consistently rather than during your first tests.
